The food here is pretty good. It lost a a star because the entrees were bland BUT the pasta dishes were amazing. Flavorful and well balanced. They were the star dishes. Amazing views
What an amazing place to hold a reception. WOW! My niece held her reception here and it was off the charts. Super swanky. The vibe of this place is just unbelievable. The view of New York City skyline, the lights coming off the water, red brick building inside and out, the layout of this place is just perfect. The food was amazing from the 2 different types of carving station to the 10 foot charcuterie board, a great bar and the service was phenomenal. And that wasn't even dinner. Dinner was either Filet Mignon or Sea Bass. Everything about this place was perfect. It was sad the night had to end.
We had: * Squid Ink Torchio * Fennel Crusted Pork Chop This was our second time back at Battello and the ambience and amazing service remain unchanged! If you're lucky, you can get a view by the water, but even without the skyline, we were perfectly satisfied with the live music that happened to be playing the day we were there. The pomodoro sauce of the Squid Ink Torchio was a little too strong and the dish ended up mostly tasting like tomato... But the Fennel Crusted Pork Chop was amazing both times we had it! One of the best pork chops I've ever had, absolutely bursting with juice and flavour, it never disappoints! Note: the pastas no longer come in small or large sizes, which I do miss as it allowed you to try more options
Food and service were very good! It was pricey, but as expected with the location. My fiancé took me to celebrate my birthday which was so nice. We didn't get sat in the back with the large windows (boo) because I really just don't think they cared. lol (yes he put in the notes that is was my birthday when making a resy) anyways back to food... we each ordered a cocktail and Focaccia bread and honey truffle butter (butter was so good!) we then tried the zeppole and Parm appetizer (very unique!) and we really enjoyed that. For mains we ordered 1/2 order of Cacio E Pepe and some rigatoni (with vodka sauce) they did bring out a dessert, can't unsure what it was? Overall food was good - I heard the weddings are very nice as well.
This restaurant probably has the best view in Jersey City! I would say during the day the crowd is young and evening time has a more mature crowd. The tuna tartare is very good! So is the octopus! My friend and I shared the Gnocchi and it was more than enough! Portions are good. This location is perfect for special occasions and dates.
Battello was such a perfect place for our 2 year anniversary dinner. The ambiance is fantastic and our seat had an unbeatable view of the city. The service was all great - everyone we spoke to was so kind. Food was YUMMY. The focaccia was so fluffy and that butter was so delicious. The cappelletti was probably my favorite dish of the night; the flavor was exquisite and the cheese was literally melt in your mouth perfect. The trumpet mushroom dish was fine but after the other 2 dishes it did not compare. Dessert was so also delicious and they wrote on the plate which was SO CUTE. Our cocktail was also great.
Came for the view, enjoyed the impeccable service, but left a little disappointed with the taste and presentation of the food. The spicy and citric pomodoro sauce overpowered the squid ink pasta. The too salty bacon bits overwhelmed the juicy chicken meat and truffle flavor. Both dishes also presented very dark. The tuna tartare and seafood salad appetizers were better. An extra star for the complimentary champagne in acknowledging the anniversary occasion.
If you are looking for a riverfront restaurant, Battello is a great choice for its ambiance and magnificent view of New York City. Its menu has a good selection of seafood and pasta dishes. For appetizers, we ordered raw oysters, seafood salad and roasted octopus. I had a scallop risotto for my main course. All were good. But I recommend the place more for its view.
Wonderful views of the city at this waterfront restaurant with cute decor! Prices here are a bit higher as you would expect from a restaurant like this, but I think it's the feeling of you do pay for the view so the prices are higher, but not so bad. Staff was friendly and food was good, nothing that particularly stood out, but they do have seasonal items which is always nice, so will be back for a date night to try out other new foods they have.
